Does anyone know this car?

Post by Winston Teague »

Does anyone know anything of the history of my car. I bought it last month from Ritchie King at Karmann Konnection and the story from him was that it was fettled by Francis Tuthill for one of the Bamfords (JCB) to do a rally. This is all i have! Is it true? If so i'd love to know more and anything on the 5 other owners since import. It is (i think) a '61 B T5 with a '63 engine with " a bit of a cam and a lightened flywheel". I have no fear of what might come out of this as I love it despite or perhaps because of its issues like the paint work, and the body and engine mods.????????? Winston

Hi Winston.

I have a whole file on it at work.
I'll have to try and remember who owned it before David Land, as that is what it will be filed under.

David traded it with KK for a silver 'B'
It has been offered for sale a few times
The Francis story is true as far as I know but it was at another dealer after that.

Just drop me a line and I'll get it all photo copied for you.

All the best
Paul.

Thanks for all the help, Paul a big SAE is on the way. It now has baby moons, a modern retro radio and a Mallory twin contact distributer. All these improve the car in their own ways. Exhaust and Rolling road next. Winston
