It's approaching that time of year and the mind wanders to treating oneself to a new timepeice. I've narrowed the field to 2, what are your thoughts:

Buy a Daytona Stainless Steel and Black or Blue. It'll hold its value and indeed will command a premium over cost.

I couldn't afford one so bought the last UK 2007 style Submariner as a treat this summer even that is still worth slighty more than the cost to me and they're common.

PS Alan reckoned it was a waste of money and I should have bought some porsche bits ( he's probably right )

Well Helen, I'd argue it like this:

Some people think that because a 912 looks about the same as a 911S its the same. Those who know the difference, know the difference

Funny thing is my mechanical watch isn't even remotely "quick" in fact its usually slow so it suits me down to the ground :?

My car is actually stationary (as it has been for 5 years) so I suppose you could say the watch is quicker

Not a Daytona fan at all - actually not a big Rolex fan although do have a manual 70s number.

Get yourself a nice Panerai - far classier!

Where I work Thomas every Italian analyst has a panerai, looking for something a bit different, already have an IWC Portuguese Automatic, looking for a nice "sports" model hence the Hublot and the "classic" Daytona, there really isn't much else to choose from in the chronograph space, maybe a AP Royal Oak Offshore?
