White or Black & White ST ?

Post by Highfield »

Mike posted on the general forum about a company he had seen at Classic LM - looked at their website and they have some very nice cars.

Particularly interested in the White and Green 911R's and the Black & White ST.

Thoughts on the Black & White - I need my hood repainting at some point, and hadn't considered a contrast colour to the existing white.

Too much like a Milton Keynes cow perhaps ? Were any other colour combinations used on the ST ?

Do you do White 'P O R S C H E' on black ? I ordered all black on white from you (in the post ?) - does the black one go on the front bumper like they have done - not seen this done before !

Yes, I do the white versions too.

Yours will be in the post next week - I've got the side scripts but just awaiting the rear one.

I haven't done the black one for the front bumper before but could do it if you wanted one.

Go for it. Would paint engine lid to match bonnet as well if flat lid with no spoiler. If it has a ducktail not sure as never seen one in contrasting colour so not sure how that would look.

Have finally chosen a light ivory colour scheme for my car with different colour bonnet and engine lid (not telling what colour though). Also going for the black stripe all the way around the bottom (without any porsche scripts).

Shameless copy of the colour scheme on someone's car in the US but looks really good so can't resist.

Ian.

That's easy then, Ian.

(Isn't your bonnet a -slighty different shade of ivory- colour already? )

Nonetheless a beauty though. :drunken:

I would love to also give my car ST wings.. however it would mean, new wings and rear arches, front and rear bumpers and converting the wing to accept the feul flap as I wouldn't want a central filler..

Then it may become less practical... and you would want some big 15" rims to fill those arches. Quite an undertaking.

The result would be awesome though.

Many thanks for the replies.

I am keeping the narrow arches, as I cannot finance a full ST wide body.

However, research shows that early ST were available in narrow body form, as discussed here the Early 911S Registry :-

http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/ ... hp?t=16369

and pictured here in different guises.

Planning the bodywork (phase 3, after suspension / brake rfurb as phase 2), so looking for ideas on 'P O R S C H E' scripts, black tape on bumpers, one piece rear f/glass bumper with black tape (who sells these ?), engine lid with script, and perhaps contrasting black / white colour scheme.

Keep those pictures and ideas coming.

How about something a little bit different - keep your Light Ivory centre but paint the sides (including front wings) a contrasting colour ?

Interesting Andy.

However, as Bert noted further up this post, my bonnet is not an exact match to the rest of the car, and has numerous stone chips etc. so it will need to be painted at some point. More cost effective to do the bonnet and engine lid than two sides and the engine lid.

Looks OK in this picture, but it isn't a good match

I know I refer back to costs, but sadly they are a real factor for me.

Keep the ideas coming........
