Hello and welcome,
any pictures of your car?
I'm afraid I can only provide moral support as I'm a mechanical novice.
Good luck with your restoration.

Hi! You found the right place..this and 356 talk.
Where did you get the car? Not Saddleworth near Manchester by any chance?
I just missed buying a '60 RHD project there, and have been looking out for the 'lucky' restorer popping up here..

Hi Johnny,
I got the car from Oldham, near manchester. Could possibly be the same car? Did the one you were after come with spare running gear and engine from a super 90?

Hi, yes that's the one. You pipped me to the post! I ummed and ahhed, and then thought - right I'll go and see it this weekend, but it had just sold..so congratulations, you swine! I ended up spending a fair bit more on a LHD 'driver' in the end..
I look forward to seeing how the resto goes. It looked pretty solid to me, and no particular reason why at least one of the motors shouldn't be a go-er. Is it going to be back to stock? - I was particularly tempted by the Slate Grey over red original colours.
Good luck.

Hi Johnny,
Im in a bit of a dilema, I was thinking bout putting the super 90 disc brakes on as I would prefer to have the better braking capabilities and I wanted to do some engine work so I have got a few more horses. Apart from those it will go back as it came out of the factory. I do love the outlaw cars but couldnt bring myself to do it.

Hi Steve,
Thanks, I think I will be taking you up on that offer. How long before your 1 is back on the road?

Hi, welcome to the site.
You know that if you use disc brakes you will have to get "C" wheels. They can be hard to come by and expensive - as far as I know.
Drum brakes aren't all that bad, they just need setting up right.
However, if you want to sell the old drums I might be interested.
Have just received a pair of original headlight grills from Paul at PRS while writing this, they look very

Hi, thanks for the welcome.
Thanks for the info, I am not sure what year the super 90 that the running gear came from was. Something else to look into I suppose. I need to do an inventory of all the parts there are as I seem to pretty much have a spare everything apart form a spare shell. I think I have a set of the finned alluminium drums in with all the bits.
If I go for the disc brakes that may sway my decision on whether to go for standard wheels or aftermarket ones. A part of me wants to keep the car standard but my dark modifying side wants to change the odd bit here and there......... Help
