Is there anywhere to get the material rather than paying out for Stoddard stuff at $215, plus shipping and import.

Cheers, also how have people attached this or is it self adhesive

Mine's fibre matting backed leather stitched in a diamond motif... very 'now'.

The vinyl sample you found looks pretty convincing though...

Ive used brown finish and the grey stuff from stoddards, which you can paint black, the stoddards kits I think are very good.
Take your time, check the piece first, cut if ness',then mark around it for glueing, contact adhesive is best, then gently work it into place, can use a heat gun for this.
Any other problems or questions just ask Ive done dozens now, engine bays, fronts and insides!

I had a look at blow up of Stoddard kit and it didnt look right. What was in there was a simple tar pad with dimples in apart from top section which appears like the ribbed one from Woolies!

Does anyone know what should actually be there please?

This pic shows what is there already

Cubist, that's pretty sweet. Any more engine bay pics?

You won't be wanting a split oil cooler with that little set up

I just fitted the Stoddard stuff (bought from Karman Konnection) and I think it is great. BTW it is genuine Porsche and has the labels etc to prove it.

It comes pre cut to shape (although needs a little tweaking in the corners).

It glues on with standard seal impact adhesives.

Looks great painted black.

Fitted and painted in a weekend!

See the pics that helen has posted on our restoration thread.

Highly recommended and worth the money.

P.R.Service do the real tar stuff, same as original.
You have to heat the back of it with a blow torch and then stick it in place, just as the factory did.

It's always worth talking to P.R. because unlike other UK suppliers they source the best stuff and don't just sell you Stoddard or what makes them them the most money.
They also fit the parts themselves so if you have a technical question they can answer it.

Cheers mate I didnt think the Stoddard stuff looked the same, mind you thats not to say they changed what they used as so many 356s seem to be different

Nic.

The sound deadening in the photo of your car is the real stuff.
If you can, leave the original where it is. It will clean up with thinners on a rag.

Replaced sound deadening is a bit of a give away to a non original car.
In the old days you could always tell I car that had been in an accident or messed with because the original sound deadening was missing.
Also although it is now available, it is not cheap.
