My friend Dave (Lever) has GUF 873D - she was originally registered 'SV 19' - chassis number 351254 - first registered 31.01.66 - so probably a '66 model year.

Very pretty, very original and his pride and joy :-)

FGO 8C

that was her and very much Blue when I had it ... and yes Miggs had it next as a rolling shell ( also hence why I called at the time to make sure you knew 100% what you where buying.. )

I knew at the time for me to spend £1000's on the body work would be a labour of love and I just couldn't afford to do it.. but as a parts car.. well it was work it.. Also I knew long term I would be thinking I wish I didn't part it out because I knew the day we would all chat about it would come up and today is the day..will post pic's later...

Thankyou

Many thanks for information received about FGW 10C. It appears to be the 16th ever right hand drive 912, with only FGW 8C being a canditate for being older (what was the chassis number?)

So it maybe the oldest 912 in right hand drive form, when did they start making 911's in right hand drive, and how many early rhd 911's are there surviving?

Early cars

Post by LGK6D »

It could be the earliest surviving UK RHD car. You'll need to look for the following:

Chassis Number/Original Registration

350576/BFM8 - The first UK RHD
350631/FYN912C - Demo car
350666/LGW4D
350737/FYM2C
350743/BJM687C
350764/FYM6C
350771/Don't know
350772/Don't know
350808/Don't know
350819/Don't know
350820/FYM3C
350841/Don't know
350842/DCW884C
350918/KBP2D
350936/GUU44C
350946/FGW7C
351054/FYM4C

These are the earlier cars than yours. With regard to your early 911 question, if you meant 1965 model year cars (which would be pre shut down/holiday Sep 65) from what I've found there were 14 911's sold. 11 of which were RHD, the survivors list currently stands at:

300474/MMU911C - Demo car
301929/ANW104C - First customer car
301940/LGK6D

Total delivery for 65 (including cars built between shut down 65 and pre January 66 delivery) was 25 cars, 18 of which were RHD. Total survivor list, not including the above:

302117/FGX911C
302136/BSC3B
302186/FGW9C

So a grand total of 6

Hope this helps,

Cheers
David

Just checked up - I've had FYM 3C off the early RHD 912 list, chassis number 820 ish? Could be a new contender!?

PS - Jeff, you have PM regarding our 912 jig discussion :)

350820 build date August 65, painted in Sand Beige with Stone Beige interior. Delivered in the UK on 17th October 65, registered FYM3C.

There were somewhere in the region of 70 912's sold in the UK prior to January 66, 90% being RHD. I don't have the exact figures but could probably source them. I guess it would explain why there are so many 912 survivors still around today. With there only being a third of that many 911's sold in the same year you can understand the percentage game has thinner odds.

Heres a pic of her. The car was all in primer and needed full restoration - I'm pretty sure it came with its original green card logbook as well.

I had a call today from the owner of LGK 7D - Another early RHD 912 and presumably an old friend of LGK 6D 8)

The car is being restored by a garage, looks like we may be helping them to source the parts needed. It will be for sale soon by the sounds of it.

I am working on FYM 3C 350820 at the moment.

She is off being painted at the moment, see my restoration thread.

Does anyone have any pics of this car ? I am going through the process of getting the reg number back and any info would be helpful.

I do have the buff registration document and the number has not been reused.
