exhaust muffler

Post by jtparr »

as I have just bought a new stainless dansk rear box, my original mild steel one is surplus ( standard 2 in and 1 out )

it worked fine when the car last ran, its got a bit of surface rust but nothing serious

£10 if anyone is interested

as its a bit on the heavy side I'll be at the fairmile this week if someone wants me to bring it along

thanks

I don't suppose you have any photos of the SS Danske do you? Does it have a '911....' part number stamped? Where did you buy it from ? :)

I'm trying to workout what my SS muffler is as it needs replacing soon due to the baffles being blow out

hi

no photos, but I bought it from Power Marques, 01724 784897

they are official agents for the FVD products from Germany
no special reason to buy from them, but they seemed a reasonable price, for exhaust systems amongst other things, which you can check out in 911 & Porsche World, where they advertise every month

code reference is a bit confusing as on the box from Dansk it has 705 33 0991 (92.511S) but in the catalogue I received with the order is has 705 33 0025 (92.221S)

note mines a 74/75 2.7 Carrera

still looks the part, hopefully it wil fit too

why not give them a call, I think it was a Nick I spoke to, very friendly service

I was actually only buying a set of stainless braided brake pipes, as they had the ones with stainless ends not the zinc plated cheaper type (why anyone would but a stainless set with mild steel conectors is a puzzle to me....), so £55 turned into £55 plus £295, plus carriage and VAT.....

regards

James - I had a stainless steel Dansk silencer on my black RS-engined Targa - pretty sure it had a 911 part number stamped into it.

Incidentally Eurocar Parts sell 3 different versions of Dansk stainless steel (+ mild steel) silencer:

Painted s/steel £205 + VAT
Polished s/steel £297 + VAT
Polished s/steel with 70mm outlet £315 + VAT

Thanks Andy :) My mufler has a 911 number stamped on to it & I am wanting to buy a replacement that keeps the 'sound' I have with my car. Unfortunatly my muffler has not been the same since a high speed run on the autoroute back from LeMans ;)

I assume the difference in prices is to do with wether it is completly stainless or a mixture of steel flanges with a stainless box?

I imagine the 70mm will be OTT for what I want

James, I'm fairly sure they're all-stainless.

I would buy the painted version, clean off the paint & polish it (saves over £90 + VAT)...
