Mick - I might have one in the garage - I'll look tomorrow - what's wrong with the old one? Have you checked the wiring from the remote to the head unit in the rear compartment? Try a multimeter and see if the resistance changes on the connector to the head unit when the remote is operated.

Give me a call tomorrow if you want :-)

My aging body precludes getting anywhere close to seeing what's what with the wiring to the head unit! As you know, the head unit is well tucked away and the need to adjust my 'seeing' range (bi-focals) means I'd have to have the contortionist skills of Houdini to get in there

So, swapping in a working unit (the remote) to see if that works is the initial option. Looks like I might have picked up a remote on Evilbay...

Otherwise the head unit / CD player are perfect - not too sure about the CD's you left in there, though  . On a plus note the neighbour's 18 year old daughter came round to find out what the noise was - I asked her to try and see if the wiring was all connected at the head unit - refused (skirt too short! - her's, not mine!)
