As for Margaret she was inspecting the progress of Kit's restoration.

Had a great morning up at Prescott hill climb watching the minis. After being ignored by the staff in the cafe/restaurant we took a trip to a nearby farmshop for lunch. Gorgeous sausage n egg roll with brown sauce.

Not so good drive back. Got to newport docks (detour to avoid the tunnels) and lost 4th gear.

Got to the motorway and managed to go from 3rd to 5th. Great. Got to my exit. Fine to the first two roundabouts then lost all gears but was stuck in 2nd. Limped the last bit home. Either gearbox kaaput (don't believe it) or gear selectors have disconnected somewhere. That's my tomorrow sorted!

Temporariliy sorted. The grub screw had fallen out on the firewall end. Thankfully the rubber boot had stayed on and the screw was inside it. I've ordered two new conical screws to replace both.

Went for a 90 minute drive with PCGB local area. The only aircooled car on the drive. 40 cars in total broken into six groups. It was more like a rally down a lot of single track roads and the roads were worse than awful. Potholes galore and a few Grand Canyon trenches just to make sure you keep your eyes on the road. Despite the road surfaces the lead driver in our group, ex rally driver, kept up a blistering pace. The rest of our group were modern Boxsters and Caymans. They were intrigued by the pace of my ST. Excellent Kirk

After a one hour delay due to a flat battery caused by my docking around with the failed spoiler yesterday I went to Curborough to see the guys competing. Parked next to a younger sibling that is simply mahoosive by comparison

Did my first and nearly last sprint there in 1990.

Decided the hills were much more fun, esp weekend events, still following that 35 years later...

Meanwhile, found an embarrassing issue on the 911. It was a bit 'vibration/harsh' after the hillclimb at Shelsley, so with today nice and cool decided to investigate.

Found every CV bolt loose.
Can't remember when i last fitted them, but about 5 years ago when the shell went to be re=painted.

Did the lot up to 60 LbFt. My 8mm allen socket is a bit worn (Snap-On) after 40 years of use, so finished the job and ground the end off back to a length which is not worn, did some drill sharpening too.
Will order some new cap heads for next time to refresh these.

Hope to drive the car tomorrow to see if the vibs have gone away.

Nice to see Gary71 and his wife this afternoon on their way to another DDK'r who lives just down the road from me (Matt Powell).

Nice busy day. :)

We've all been there. Or in the vicinity. What doesn't kill you, et cetera...

And Wayne, that bumper looks great!

I’ll admit the 911s haven’t moved much over the last few weeks but I have got the 986 out this morning for an early gym visit

Even the current Cayman appears larger than an early 911.
