Superb piece of info. an additional task for me to do too.

The silencer hanger that i bought, uro make, was 2mm thick and couldn't hold the silencer any where near level. it was flexing really bad, meaning the complete exhaust weight would be resting/pressing on the head studs.

I added a 1.5mm backing plate. that's now drying. hoping to fit it tomorrow.

I've made 2 down pipes for one head and the two end plates that bolt onto the silencer. again hoping to complete the tubing on the one side tomorrow.

I'd forgotten about Nimbus Motorsport! They were one of my sponsors when I was drag racing, providing me with endless supplies of Torco synthetic racing oil and Thermotec heat wrap, etc. I'll give the heat shield material a go. Thanks for the memory jogger! :)

Found a photo of it. Easy to cut & shape but watch your fingers on the cut edges.

Took the 73T out for a morning short run to check several things, first run since October last year.

Did some bedding in of the all new brake parts, forgot just how poor these brakes are! Doing too many miles in modern cars obviously.
I think they are a bit better as the time/miles passed, hope so..

These are new calliper seals, fresh bleed and fluid, new stock discs and Brembo pads all round.
Don't have much initial bit!
Just might get some Carbone pads yet.

New balloon Continental tyres (185 x 60) all round are all in balance and drive nicely, some pot holes are an easy drive over if I miss them I have LOTS of practice around here for dodging pot holes.

Everything else simply works, oil pressure as expected, 50 psi at 3500 hot on a 150K mile 3.2, that will do.
Temperature a rock steady 180F, that will do too.

The odd creak and noise is just as it's always been...

Yes, agree. Such a tiny car.
The Conti's are a bit more 'balloon' than my old Dunlop Blu Sports and one just rubbed on the OS front chin spoiler/wing area, attacked the surplus metal of the wing lip with a hacksaw and a good whetting of Hammerite Smooth black.

You can do this on an old hillclimb car!

Had hoped for a better braking performance mind....
Should improve with a few more miles I think.

Took the spyder out for a quick run round the lanes as don’t drive it that often as when I walk into the garage to take a car for a fun drive by myself the ‘73 is usually the choice…. But forgot how much fun it is .

Yes, off out towards Wales today in the old Boxster.

Mrs HC suggested getting another sports car soon instead of this Boxster. Now, there's a thought.
