Working through the list, but still the list grows.

I do wounder how these TV American muscle car builders put 200 miles on the car and then its perfect to give to the customer.

1. Lowered the driver seat which involved new fixing tags and new movement mech
2. New front strut top mounts. Also new access holes made for service and setting
3. Set the castor angle to 4 degrees
4. New control arm bushing - This finally stopped the small amount of steering wheel shake.
5. Re-set the ride height
6. Changed all the stainless chrome head bolts holding rear and side screens to black countersunk with cup washers - pics to follow
7. Polishing the inside/ outside rear screen to remove scratches
8. Cut and removed a section of the roll bar to allow the seat to slide back move. Now got a comfortable driving position.
9. New foam seal around hardtop to windscreen. Yet to try if it seals better both air and water
10. Adjusted the rag top handle, never really liked the way it worked.
11. Investigated grinding sound at steering wheel, turns out to be the horn connector, copper grease has cured the problem.
12. Found a mobile phone holder that will work
13. Re-set the rebound levels on the GAZ shocks

All booked in for CLM so need to keep pushing to get everything ready, or at least best shot at travelling there and back.

I guess there are sophisticated R&D engineering programs to test a cars endurance under all conditions. Ignoring that I thought going for a 100 mile drive was a good start. Despite the hot weather, A11 dual carriage way, multiple busy round-abouts, sitting in 2 traffic jams the car performed well.

CLM 2025 for the speedster has ended before we got started, disaster.

Got home yesterday after a drive and it stalled half in the road half in the driveway. A little persuasion and got it onto the driveway and into the garage. I wanted to change the front springs again and some other minor jobs. Once I completed these I started the car to try out the new springs and set the bounce/ rebound rate but I could hear running fluid. Turned the car off and Jumped out and there was a couple of gallons of fuel on the garage floor. Of course I had only recently filled the tank.

Couple of hours draining the rest of the tank and cleaning up before I could have a look. All the fuel lines and clamps were good. The leak appears to be on the tank side, between the shutoff valve and bladder maybe the fuel safe bladder, don't know yet. It only leaks with engine running I guess system under pressure. Worst case would be a new tank.

Luckily the 356 Coupe started up first time. I want to check/ change the plugs as its popping a bit, but should be good to go.

That sucks

Mine can pop a bit untill it gets warm. I would be tempted to not change them, take some spares and I bet it will improve. Plugs should be good for years and thousands of miles.

If you are keen I would blow out the idle jets?

I have donated the BBS RS wheels to my Porsche 924s to fill out the Monti-Carlo arches better than the teledials.

I bought a set of Group 4, 7 & 8 rims which look very well built and fill the arches of the speedster giving a great stance. I may have gotten a 9" rim on the back but wanted to keep a 50 profile tyre. I have struggled to find a porsche crest centre cap to cover. My solution for the fronts involved welding two half backs together and cutting to new length. Welding 0.5mm thick steel with my mig proved very tricky but got there and pen looks good. Please excuse the 5 blackish nuts, I have a new set to fit.

The rear centre holes is a different diameter so requires another solution, more anon.

Looking forward to seeing the pics with those wheels on - I'd imagine they're going to suit it and look very good

Spent a very cold but enjoyable morning working on the rear centre cap holders

I manged to find a exhaust tube at 63mm OD with a swage whih I though I could use the radius section as below:

I cut, drilled and welded plate to create the top, then a quick rattle can finish:

Just waiting for some M6 grub screw with a spring loaded ball bearing to arrive. I can adjust the tightness of the fit to prevent them falling off! These will replace the screw you can see inside

I thought the silver rims a little plain when compared to the BBS RS previously fitted, After various ChatGBT down loads asking it to change colour of wheels, I tried Chrome, Bronze, Gold, Cooper, Burgundy, Black Gloss/ Matt but felt the original Audi L8AU titanium used on the BBS is still my favourite

I will take the rims over to AeroCoat.

Once done will post some pictures

personally think they look great in silver as contrasts nicely with the grey paint

The centre caps front and back fit and don't pull off easily but need to drive the car to see if they stay on

Now just need to get a new larger aluminium fuel tank made.
