I got this Monza from 'Mr. Momo' in Germany who was featured in an Oldtimer magazine in his country. He refurbishes steering wheels and sells them.
Personally, I think he destroyed the soul of a wonderful vintage wheel by re-dyeing it. I tried to relay my feelings to him but I don't think he got it.

Not MoMo centric I am afraid but do any of the cognoscenti know which wheel would have been fitted to a 1968 912? Part no.s would be useful.

I assume it is a 420mm wheel probably in ebonite?

Would 901.347.082.01. Or 081.00. Be close

You have some wonderful looking wheels there Mark. Couldn't agree with you more with respect to over restoring these wheels, i have Been looking for an original series one momo for some time, most of the wheels I have seen for sale have been dyed and spokes resprayed spoiling 50 yrs of patina...

Interesting how a wheel changes the car so much.
When I got my 911 on the road after a re-build in 1990 it had it's standard wheel (73T)
Then I bought a '78 MOMO something, cannot find the desgn/spoke shape anywhere now, in 92 as I started to race it and it stayed on the car until spring of last year. It looks like the one above, patina...
In spring '14 I fitted a Nardi wood rim wheel with MOMO adaptor ring bought from Uncle Keith no less.

It set the car back in time and had to be driven with gloves as it is so thin, but same diameter and looked great, matching the balsa wood gear knob.

However the steering felt a bit 'odd' a bit 'wooden' even though the dia is the same as the MOMO. I changed the wheel back to the MOMO 'race' wheel and went for a local drive in the fab sun this morning.

What a great difference!
Feels so much nicer, steers better etc, all in the mind, but surprised me the effect a wheel can have to a car and your link to it.
Still wear racing gloves, but that's because I can be superstitious.

I know this isn't exactly Porsche correct but 'for the love of steering wheels' it works for me. Just bought this for my soon to arrive Alfa Gt 1300 Junior.

I have one of those steering wheels Tom and a matching wooden (boxed, NOS ) Nardi period keyring which I think is very rare. An old guy in Italy sold me the wheel and keyring a few years ago. His emails were just full of nostalgia. He had a large collection of Alfa's and Italian period motorcycles. I'll try and dig out some of his pictures.

Mike I can imagine your garage has a few surprises. I am really enjoying reading about the history of Alfa, they have produced some truly beautiful cars in their early days. I am hoping the GT Junior I have bought is going to be as much fun as the early 911's.
