Always a great day out, bit short on Top Fuel dragsters, but one did a 3.7 @ 301mph which is the fastest time recorded in Europe.

My car reminded me how blunt the ride is on the way home, need to toughen up before the drive to Le Mans!

Went to Boxengasse - Megaphonics yesterday in the 1970S. As I was early I had to blag my way in and parked up on Autofarm's forecourt alongside their display. Autofarm have their workshops open. This event is now four years old and has developed well in my view. Good layout for cars to park with aircooled seperate to later water cooled. The event is geared to aircooled cars but it attracts a lot of later cars too. A big selection of 964s this year but not enough pre 1973 cars this year. An increased number of traders in a defined area with food and beverage supplies not all in one place to avoid ultra busy queues. Appropriate music and a short stint by a live band. It is a very attractive setting with a lake and largely un cultivated farmland. A well organised event which due to the size of the site and layout does not feel at all crowded. Even the weather stayed fine.

Had a nice drive in the 3.2 to vagcar next door to retro finishers today, to pick up a little light reading from another ddk-er.

Replaced the head gasket on the 356. I had pinched the old one when I adjusted the valves.

Classic number plates on my 914. Which now has a working heater blower.

Temporary fix to the cabin vent on the passenger side in the 356. It the first time it can be closed and opened. I want to find a knob like the driver's side but don't know where to startImageImageImageImage

Just buy two new complete vents, which will tidy things up in the footwell as well.

Thank you but I was thinking of the £5 metal knob solution.

You should be able to find something similar for a couple of quid - measure the diameter & then search on ebay, etsy, google etc for 'small drawer knob' ...

Changed the sump plate on the 912. I could not stop the old one leaking. I guess it met a few Gorillas in 54 years!

Impressed with the quality of the new one (Precision Matters) and like that it has a new sump plug, so I can leave the regular tapered one well alone. It scared me to tighten that!

These do look well made and having the oil come out of the bottom of the sump is a bonus but surely you still need to remove it to clean the magnetic and mesh?
