More progress.
The headliner is in and the sunroof has been re-fitted. And it works!
As you can see some of the panels are going back on too.

Ur getting there fine and poor old Nick will want to keep out the rain now so should be finished in no time!! Roof lining with mine was no prob sun roof mechanism /operation took a little longer!

I've got a few weeks holiday soon so I took a trip down to see Nick again and see how things are going.
The car's looking mighty fine.
The plan had always been to have the car finished for early April and that could mean I'll be out and about in time for Volksworld.
Nick has his name down on the DDK stand for the Saturday so we'd like to try and show the car there.
Hopefully that can happen and I look forward to meeting more DDKers and seeing your cars.

The engine is in very good order.
However the earlier supposition that the heads would be fine was a little optimistic.
They were worn so they're going back together with new seats, guides, valves etc.
Overall though the engine and gearbox would seem to indicate not too many miles. The gearbox is being reconditioned but upon opening was pronounced excellent.
The speedo indicates 10k so we're thinking it's likely (especially after 20 years off the road) that 110k is the true mileage.

Sometimes you're grateful to live in such a miserable climate where the sun never shines.
At least our dash tops don't split like they do in the US!

I'm really pleased with the paint.
The finish is top notch. I've tried to photograph it but that green aint easy.
Last few pics for a week or so (maybe Nick can post a few more whem I'm away).

That paint certainly looks good: esp as they're such close ups, and under flu. tubes as well.

From my experience, anything that looks reasonable under those lights will look good outside, and if something looks very good in the workshop, it will look stunning outside (I suspect the latter

).

Having been to the workshop yesterday for another matter, I can confirm that the paintwork is very, very good: lovely colour 'in the flesh' as well.

The quality of the restoration work is excellent: it's going to be a truly stunning car when it's finished
