Wow. Yes certainly it would be fabulous if you’d like to join in. I’m about to post some hotel details for the Saturday night if you’d need a room - or do you live close by?

If the cafe photo is Hive Beach Cafe, I can’t recommend it highly enough. I’ve just collected two elderly relatives from Maiden Newton and taken them there for lunch. Not expensive, extremely good food and delightful staff. Just one dodge; it was very busy on a January weekday in driving/rain and sleet. The beech was empty for hypothermia lovers though.

Great to hear you confirm that the cafe’s a goodie Ashley. I went there on a busy September day and the queue was big but went down pretty quickly. They have lots of tables and are very efficient..

UPDATE

The DDK Jurassic Coast Tour, and
Tour arrival at Classic and Supercar Show Sherborne July 20/21st

Image

The response to this has been brilliant - for which many thanks!

I’ve been asked by the show organisers to have up to 15 cars for the ‘arrival’ at the show. So far there are 13 ‘probables’ and 3 ‘possibles’.

Given that I’m hoping they’ll let me have more if we push them - to make up a really comprehensive aircooled DDK line-up of cars I’m still ideally looking for a 911S, a 3.2 Carrera, a 964 and a 993.. Still not too
late to join!

So here’s the developing details - and just a reminder that it’ll be the beginning of peak holiday season in Dorset then, so the roads and hotels will be pretty full, (as I’ve found from phoning round) so leave plenty of travel time and get an early reservation in for the hotel..

For those coming for the weekend we’ll meet up on Sat July 20th at 12.30 at The Hive Beach Cafe in Burton Bradstock.

The cafe is right by the beach, and usefully next to a large National Trust car park. They don’t take reservations but the queue normally goes down pretty quickly as they have lots of tables and are very efficient.
Anyway it’s a good way of getting to know each other!

After lunch I thought we’d have a leisurely run around the interesting places and roads in the area (I’ll do a printed tulip route book and downloadable google map). The roads will be busy so it’s unlikely to be fast, although we might get a few moments.

For those staying the weekend we’ll end up at the hotel:

I was lucky to find an enthusiastic owner/manager at The New Inn at Cerne Abbas - its meant to be very good.
He’s blocked off 7 rooms for us - in my name, Jeremy Gibson. To claim your’s - book it in your name now.
Most are £110 (which includes breakfast) and one larger one is £120. Two are dog friendly if you’re bringing pooch. (There are a couple of family suites if you’re coming mob handed -Ben?) You don’t need to worry about cancelling if your plans change - you can do so without charge, I think up to 5 days before the booking. (Check details on website) But if you’re interested GET YOUR BOOKING IN NOW, saying you’re taking one of the Gibson group booking rooms. (And let me know you’ve booked please)

The Inn has a car park behind it. It’s well situated for the Sherborne run the next morning.

In the morning we can have a leisurely breakfast, then meet up at a pre-arranged place with any local cars joining us for the tour ‘arrival’. We need to be at Sherborne Castle for 11.15 (currently). More details on that Show day later.

I hope this all meets with your approval. If you have any questions then do PM me.

Excellent - that’s five rooms booked!

At least 2 more are being held by The New Inn, so if any of the others, ‘probables’ or ‘possibles’, reckon they may need one, do book quickly - no deposit needed and cancellable up to 5 days before booking date - so nothing to lose!

Last room at The New Inn went tonight, but if anyone else wants to hold one, they may release one or two more (possibly). So if you’re half contemplating it, I should get on the phone now and try and get your name on the list.

Don’t forget, it’s cancellable up to 5 days beforehand, so nothing to lose..
