Cheers
Yes James - it’s a sport cat so probably not quite as sound quashing as an OE one (probably as a result of the frankly eye watering price) and it has a stainless primary box behind the bumper (it has a 964 stamp on it, but not sure that stainless would be standard)

I must be getting old - or have just spent too much time in noisy industrial environments - because I reckon a stock 964 is plenty noisy enough as it is!

Re: 964 C2 - Rolling Resto
Only if they are crossing the road….
Tonight I did a couple of odd jobs. I removed the OSR wheel ready for my tyre man to refit tomorrow and fix a slow puncture at the rim that I found in a wheelbarrow of water. This allows me to get under the car to identify a small leak from a different place. Found it - the main oil inlet on the back of the case that if you remember had been welded up to repair a whole in the case when I bought it is weeping through the threads. My fuel / oil thread sealant will deal with that at the next oil change, but at least with everything else clean I could find it. For a 964 engine, it’s minor

I refitted the cill cover as best I could but they are knackered and gappy. Started looking at replacement options.
Finally replaced the airbox mounts, here is the knackered one. Anyone that has worked on a 964 tries to avoid removing the airbox as they weren’t designed with maintenance in mind….

- found these brilliant mounts on eBay which instead of being a round rubber mount feature a 19mm hex

Job done - plan is to take my dad to a car museum at the weekend in it (c100 mile round trip) whilst you guys are out and about

Re: 964 C2 - Rolling Resto
After 6 hours in my daily today for a meeting in Newcastle I was rather hoping that my Jiffy bag would have arrived containing a new seal - it hadn’t.
So to heck with it - out the heater tube back on and connected up the sensors and took it for a blast. My my it’s loud! Strangely the slower you drive the louder it is - it does feel a bit anti social but maybe I need to recalibrate. I’m going to leave it for a bit and see.
The good news, however, is that this is what the engine looked like after a 20 mile run - exactly the same as when I left! Finally, leak free…..

Re: 964 C2 - Rolling Resto
it should in theory be same loudness as mine and I find it ok. Wife only commented once this weekend , whilst in heavy traffic on the M1, window open , sound bouncing off the other cars etc and me in 2nd at a constant rpm she did ask why it was so noisy and could I shut the window
