Look for over 70 years people have bought Porsche cars and have looked after them, driven them into the ground, let them rust away,horded them and found some that are worth restoring. I have owned a few 356 cars and was delighted to receive back then more then what I paid for the car when selling it.

Its life, if no one was that interested in the Porsche cars then the number of 356 cars around now would be similar to the Vauxhall Victor's that once were around in the 60's. I regret scrapping a 52 356 purely because it was restorable and these days if in good condition could be be worth over £100K. All these prices for 356 cars have been obtained because people take a chance with their money and often try to make a bit more. I have seen 356A cars up for sale a lot higher than the one in question here. You can put a price on something and if there is firm interest why not if you want to sell it? Forums are for asking questions if you don't want to answer don't reply.

Finally to invest $75K or more I would as many people as possible what they think someone might see something I missed. The seller can always say no to an offer its up to him to sell.

Let’s clear this up.

I am NOT a dealer. I’m a partner in KPMG in Deal Advisory.

I have a 911 ST. I sold a 1966 VW bus I’d had for three years to my next door neighbor and bought a 1967 bus from the same restorer. That was three months ago. I then bought the fantastic 914 by tracking down the seller after it RNM on BaT.

Very happy with my three car collection.

For the last year, Lennie, the seller of his 1959 356A, have been talking about his restoration of the 356. Lennie is selling on behalf of an 85 year old owner. He was looking for $120k for the car. Outside my budget. He put the car on BaT, with a $120k reserve. It RNM. We agreed a deal just over RNM.

Now I can’t keep all four cars. Don’t have the money or the garage space. So what do I do? I agree to buy the 356. That process has taken a month - with PPI.

I therefore decided to put the 914 and the bus up for sale. Whichever one sells, I’ll keep the other.

I don’t think this makes me a dealer or ‘bad boy’. It makes me as a classic car nut case who probably spends too much time and effort on his passion. I personally resent the negative comments and constant nit picking. I resent being made out as someone I am not.

It’s disappointing that forum members waste their and my time on this. I’d rather be in my garage tinkering with these beautiful cars.

Regarding the 3 cars I bought and shipped to the UK. I faced similar negative comments. These three cars were from the same old gentleman who has the 356. What’s the big deal with me buying them all, sight unseen, and sending to the UK? I ended up making a loss. But hey, nothing ventured.

A few bad members on this forum need to grow up. They need to think first before throwing around accusations and jumping to the wrong conclusion.

And so what some believe the 914 is over priced. Don’t buy it. That’s fine. I just need one or the two to sell and I’ll have a nice three car collection.

A shame this forum has degenerated into this. It takes the shine off everyone’s day. We have enough of that with Covid.

Behave everybody - DDK isn’t a place for ‘degeneration’ even though this is one of the few threads in our history where I've had to comment which is annoying

I wasnt going to comment again but. Just because you have another job doesn't mean you aren't dealing. You flipped more cars since joining here than some of the registered dealers on here.

I've nothing against people making money.

Just stop pretending and pay the £15 for a proper trade advert on here and stop these interest generating posts.

As I said Neil, grow up. You are behaving like a spoilt brattish FX trader. I’ve explained myself fully. What I can and can’t afford is between me and my accountant - not you.

Take a look at all the years I’ve been on DDK. I’ve been an active and participating member, receiving and giving advice when I can. I’m just fed up with you, some other folks, with your pettiness and irritating contributions.
