Re: refurbing rear calipers

All 4 calipers are now returned and painted. The problem with the rears was overcome by getting the adjustment screw and the piston insides threads cleaned up by a machinist. This cost £10 in total.

The insides of the pistons are available from big red brakes at £21.50 each but are an order item as they don't carry them in stock.

I bought the seal kits from them too. In all it cost me under £60 in parts including machining to refurb all calipers.

I have a short fuse so some effing & jeffing was uttered in the process but it was an enjoyable task along with significant cost savings. Well worth doing if you are competent with spanners etc.
