Re: Jaffa- 1978 SC/3.2 hotrod
Back in Ireland this week- so update!
The d- zug HID headlights got stuck in Irish customs- will set them free Monday so Jon can get them fitted.
The brown Appbiz RS carpet set has arrived, however I've decided I'd like a roll bar- so need to source one before carpets go in.
Have posted a "wanted" ad-and will contact Heigo Monday, I like the product but forums speak of long delays.......................any good substitutes out there?
We are headed for the RS track day at Oulton Park on 18th and then on to the GRRC member meeting at Goodwood so want to get this part of the work finished by end February.
Will then aim to complete rest of interior at the end of the year [retrim Recaros in brown leather with a VW/Westfalia orange/black/brown tartan insert, recover dash in brown leather, new RS door cards in bown leather w/orange pulls]
Jon has not only given the car working heaters, wipers and washers but also working indicators, sidelights and number plate lights, ready for the classic Irish registration which I had to go personally to complete on Friday - all done and silver on black metal plates now on order.
As this is all a six hour round trip from my home in West Cork - I celebrated by taking Jaffa out on the road [first time since buying in September] from Jon's workshop for a two hour spin with the sun roof open and the heaters on!
First impressions- Jaffa is noisy [great racing exhaust] , stiff [great racing suspension] spartan [interior is stripped as above], and is just fabulous to drive- 3.2 SC is the way to go................
Probably will ditch the radio though, can't really hear it!
There are probably several people in Co.Clare wondering what a fast brown/orange car with Nebraska plates was doing screaming around Lough Dergh.........
Here we are together on the road for the first time [excuse selfie- I don't usually do these!]

Jaffa911 is nearly ready for the road!
Will post some more oics in about ten days time.................
In keeping with the "street racer" theme and for the obvious reason I intend to mount a fire extinguisher.
Any pointers on how/where, which one, which mount and where to obtain please?
Jaffa is a 911SC with rear seat delete and a rollcage...............
Recaros - I think on factory sliders.
Thanks
Clive

Re: Jaffa- 1978 SC/3.2 hotrod
Jaffa is now at her new home in West Cork

Spot the foglamp deletes, with a grille to a separate proper oil cooler in each wing- also the addtional scoops each side of front bumper.

Lightweight mesh engine grille, rear override delete, shaved jack points and sills for a cleaner look

Still considering the finishing touches, stripes, badging etc. - but I think she looks great right now!
Will be adding this to rear grille though:

50 are made each year for participants in the French "Out Classic Law" festival held near Mont Ventoux each July, each year's design is different, and they are numbered- always brown/orange.
This is from 2013, was due to go on 2014 trip but my 2.7 carrera was stolen the month before, my friend Renaud Leclaier who organises it each year is sending me the 2014 version- which is a 911!
Jaffa will be there in 2015 with badge!!

Re: Jaffa- 1978 SC/3.2 hotrod
Some interior pics, Jaffa had been "race gutted" so big transformation here

New [signed] Nardi wooden wheel and Rennshifter with custom "Jaffa" balsa knob [made by Manuel Capuuzano in Mexico], Appbiz RS [rear seat delete] carpet set in dark brown to match paintwork.

The black powdercoated Rennline pedal boards and throttle pedal were already on board - I plan to replace them with drilled silver alloy versions in the near future.
Dash , Seats and doorcards to be retrimmed in brown leather [with tartan seat inserts] after the season this year.

This was also the opportunity to add a rollcage [from Early 911] to fit the street racer look [ there had been one previouskly installed but removed before I bought her.
All of this was done by Jon Miller at Classic Carreras in Killaloe Ireland - thanks Jon!

Re: Jaffa- 1978 SC/3.2 hotrod
Jaffa came with a huge amount of work already done to the suspension and transplanted '84 3.2 motor, the engine bay is probably the cleanest I have ever seen outside a show -really asking for some great detailing

Lotsof cool suspension mods; Weltmeister ARBs front and rear with drop links;tow hooks/tie downs front and rear

Very cool front brake coolers to compliment the calipers that jon rebuilt

Aren't SSIs a work of art?- Feeding an M&K 2 in 2 out- Jaffa is LOUD!

The d- zug HID headlight installation looks cool too

Current parts list [for those that want to know]
21F & 27R solid sway away sway bars
22mm Weltmeister sway bars front & rear
Weltmeister front camber plates
Ball joints
Turbo tie rods
Front bushings-new
Front wheel bearings-repacked
Rebuilt calipers front & rear Stainless steel brake lines

1984 3.2 liter Completely rebuilt to stock specifications in 2005 by Aase Motors in Fullerton, CA (Receipts available totaling $12,500+)
