Re: Hotel for Ddk photo weekend : April 20th
James just gave me the heads up on the original thread for this. Right now, I'm not booked for work that weekend and I only live a few miles away in Yarm, so if nobody objects, I'd like to come along and meet a few faces.
Obviously, I'm a car shooter, but I won't be crowding jramton's gig, happy to help out, ideas for locations etc.
JRampton, if you need any help, drop me a DM or call me, contact details on my website, or 07812 766760

James,
Is the plan still to meet at the hotel on the saturday morning before a drive out somewhere? What sort of time should we aim to get there?

Timings work fine for me and looking forward to a decent drive out.
You didn't bring the Porsche home yesterday then? The land rover would be more suitable on an age basis but might not
keep up ....BMW probably a better option if you haven't got the Porsche back by then.

Are you looking to plan a route for JRampton's photos before you go, or just sort it out on-the-fly?

My plan is to be at the hotel 10;30 am on Saturday morning. You don't have to be there this early as I appreciate it is a distance for some of you. If you could give me an indication of when you might be turning up I can then arrange to be here to meet you & then let you know suggested driving routes over the moors.
Not quite sure how things are going to work really .... I imagine we'll identify a number of cars for 1st batch of photos , then the rest can head off for a touristy drive around the moors. Then once the 1st batch are done, we can do a swap etc I'll have a word with John and see how long he thinks he'll need with each car he's wants to photograph. My plan is I'll stay with the 'photo' car groups.
I'll have a think about routes , which I'll give you handouts for ideas . The moors have some great roads, but do get busy with tourists. Best time for a run on some of these would be 7am on Sunday morning, before breakfast, but I'm not sure I'll be getting out of bed that early

Not concerned about my car being photographed, just looking forward to catching up with everyone and seeing Andy's 904 (please, please make it). Will probably arrive 12:30ish Saturday.
Totally up for an early Sunday morning blast, anyone else keen to join me?
Cheers,
Darren

Re: Hotel for Ddk photo weekend : April 20th
Here is a proposed Saturday route ( some of this wil be great on SUnday morning too
) ... best to be treated as a tourist drive , some nice scenery etc but some single track. Not quite up to the the Dales / Teesdale roads, but still great fun . Probo 2 hours worth of driving, but there are a few places you might want to stop at. Loads of roads you could detor off on + the coast is very close if Whitby / Sandsend beckons.
https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Un ... 4&t=m&z=11
There are a few places for a bit of photography, but as I'm clearly not a photographer, I don't really know whats suitable etc.

The hotel has loads of car parking areas that I think will be perfect for some photos .
For anyone that wants to travel a bit further, then there is the famous ( and still active ) street race circuit at Olivers Mount just outside Scarborough. They are bike racing on teh Sunday, so Saturday is the day to visit. There is also Scarborough's tacky seafront
Not got any plans for Sunday yet .. will discuss in the bar
basic outline :
Saturday
10:30 - 12:30 meet at Hotel - car park photos , banter etc ( tea/coffee , butties etc will be available at the hotel )
12:30 - 17:00 ... drive out & photos
17:00 - 19:30 .. bar
19:30 .. meal
Sunday :
early morning drive to Hutton Le Hole & back for those who can stomach get up early on a Sunday ? ... one to discuss in the bar
but this would be a nice start to make sure you're back for bacon & eggs ( clockwise loop )

Breakfast
More photos ??
Return Drive back to near the A1
