I first saw my car on exhibition at the Earl's Court Motor Show, October, 1968, although I had no idea then that in May 1975 the car would become mine, after it had been exported to Zimbabwe (Rhodesia as it was) by the second owner.
So that makes 34 years - and I'm still madly in love with it.

I work in Towcester, I've seen this car. Very nicegreeny27rs wrote:Bought my RS in September 1984 at 25,after flogging just about everything I could lay my hands on!
Used it nearly every day for the first two years and it never missed a beat.
Since then it's done over 100k miles all over Europe, plus track days here and there.
Still love it to bits!
Next time you pop to OPC drive straight on and wave as you pass my office window, make my day
Thanks

August 1993 - so knocking on 16 years!
Because of a speedster and a 912 and now the 924s that were/are in a more usable condition, I'm sorry to say that I haven't used it that much.
but will change that this year.

Porsche lust started in my teens. Ownership came in 1988, when I was in my 30's, and bought a very tidy early 928 from a local trader in not so run of the mill cars. It was joined by an RSK rep which I shared with my father (but I dont think he ever drove the mad thing). 928 was a superb car, but not what I REALLY wanted. That eventually came in 1993 when I straight swapped the 928 for a 2.2S with a dealer in Norfolk. I had looked at quite a few horrors by this time, so I thought I knew all the pit falls, and this one just needed a re-paint (or so I thought - engine had recently been re-built). Finally got on the road in 2001! Off road again in 03 to re-build gearbox- couldn't live with lack of synchro any longer. It still brings a smile every time I get in it. - Edited to say a stupid grin.
