Greased the bearings inside the flywheel bolt, or gland nut, which is funny because it looks more like a bolt than a nut!
Then tightened it up with the torque meister tool to almost 400 lbft.Image

So I got my painted tinware out of the bubble wrap I wrapped it in to keep it safe and its left an impression ! Oh well, it matches the paint work I guess. ImageImage

I tried the exhaust on with the tinware and the tin ware was protruding rather. Not sure why, as I had only taken it off and painted it. So a little gentle persuasion was need, and then the exhaust sat flat against the cylinder head. Image

In my engine gasket kit, purchased from Shasta in the USA, I got these metal edged exhaust gaskets. I'll use these and one normal gasket underneath to give a little extra clearance for the tinware. Image

Next I got my rebuilt carbs out, crikey that was 4 years ago. I hadn't set them up, so I set the float levels and adjusted the pump injection amount using the home made " vial in a wire". The injection amount as standard is to high, according to the experts, so I reduced the amount to the recommended 0.2cc's for 2 pumps of the throttle.
I got all the information off the 356carbrescue.com website.

I think you might want the normal gasket facing the exhaust? As that is the face which might not be true or move? Some uses sealant on there too. I have some spare exhaust gaskets if you need them

My old air filter housings were showing signs of wear and I don't really like the chrome....Image

So I bought some old Knect filters and took out all of the inner mesh, just leaving the outer.
Then put the paper filter in. The rubber on the paper filter needs notching to allow it to fit over the 5 mounting tubes.

Cheers Neil, that sounds like a good idea, I'll do that. I've got a good supply of exhaust gaskets from over the years. Not sure why though as I've never needed them but seem to have bought some!
Thanks

I painted the inside of the filter housings, so it's all clean, but left the outside scruffy...... the usual. ImageImage

For the oil filler tank, I got some 19mm rubber tubing and an elbow, to send the oil drops down out past the dip stick where there is a whole for just such a thing. Image
