It is true.
I raced my Subaru there and won my class!
Great car, wobbly wheels and all.
Killer hillclimb to run esp in an Impreza.
I think it is/was a special stage on the RAC of old and currently.
You can hear Roger Clark along the awsome back stright as you blast down it to the 90 deg right...
Time then for big brakes and a smile, because all the snapper are there waiting for you to stuff it or survive.
Magic place.

I think this is a "Silhouette" (?) but remember seeing a "Jalpa" parked on the Kings Road in Chelsea ( probably early eighties) and couldn't believe the noise when the guy started it up. From that point on I always wanted one, but now I'm not certain over how big my shovel would need to be to dig the hole to pour my money in to keep it going !!!!
Yes it is a silhouette which was the model before the Jalpa. My old Jalpa was featured in Classic and Sportscar some time ago. They came to my work to shoot it. £ 30k will buy a nice one.
If it was the late eighties it might have been me because I used to live in Hurlingham at the end of the New Kings road and often parked it up in the Kings Road.

Was this the car ?

The Silhouette is much rarer and a RHD example is currently up for sale at £ 47k from memory.
Lambo's always look much better in the metal than photo's and the V8's sound easily as good as the V12's.
Turn the volume up and watch this beauty.

what happens to the starter motor when you spin a radical and don't get the clutch down quickly enough...

some bizaare effect of japanese bike engines! The output spline of the starter is permanently engaged to a transfer gear. I assume there is some kind of free wheel mechanism. If you spin and don't get the clutch down, you must turn the engine back'rds and that spins up the starter. Unfortunately the splines on the engaged end alos got chewed and and their debris is now in the oilway down to the sump pan! There's some fixing to do!
