Re: Caterham R400 K-series
I thoroughly enjoyed the Gurston Down school Feroz- also 8 runs in the day!
I’d book a school and see how you like it - why not with Graham?

Re: Caterham R400 K-series
I will definitely give one of the hill climb schools a go next year (assuming they are running).
Maybe a DDK event? We have a mix of experienced hands and some enthusiastic amateurs, would be a great excuse for an outdoor get together.

I’d be up for that. Great buy Feroz, hope you are well - it’s been a while since the DDK karting event!
You need the break in between runs to stop your hands shaking
Enjoy the car, however you use it
Cheers

Hi Wayne, nice to hear from you. Yes, that was good fun!
I'll take a look at a couple of venues but perhaps Gurston Down next year as a bit closer to home? Or maybe Loton Park on the way back from North Wales? Food for thought.

Re: Caterham R400 K-series
Just to say, any hillclimb school day is not a 'track day' where you can go nuts.
We have sent 3 people home early over the last 9 years for driving dangerously on the hill. I know of others who have written off expensive cars too because they ignored the instructor's advice.
If anyone wants a great free-spirit day out on a good track hire Curborough close to Litchfield (see Shenstone and District car club web), just needs someone to run a stop watch if you want a winner in a group.
If a group of DDK'rs want to do a school day anywhere, make a block booking.
We take 30 drivers max, the hill is roughly a mile long with some tricky parts to master and I've had bulk bookings from PCGB in the past who were really good.
There are no stop watches, but nothing stops go-pro cameras and other timing devices if that's what people need.
Typically, a school day is £185 inc a good (and short) lunch, constant feed-back and a video of all at the end. Simple breakfast and afternoon tea and home made cakes too!
A DDK'r has already done 'my' school a few years back and about 16 PCGB members too.

As I said in an earlier post- I did a school day at Gurston Down in Jaffa 911 in 2018- same format as Graham describes and price- bloody good value at about 20 quid a run IMO.911hillclimber wrote:Just to say, any hillclimb school day is not a 'track day' where you can go nuts.

Half the attendees were not newbies but seasoned hillclimbers getting in practice- including, from memory the then ( maybe still) PCGB champion.
Much better than a track day IMO- lots of feedback- lots of social action- If I can ever get out of Ireland again plan to bring 924 martini over to do another school- why not a DDK day?
If MikeB is reading this I know he has a pic of Jaffa 911 on the start line!
