Personally I'm not that bothered about having the correct size for the year, anything bigger than a 380mm wheel is going to rubbing against my legs, and a 420mm wheel would never work. A 380mm wheel will give me usable steering wheel and a much better aesthetic over the after market wheel I currently have fitted.

IMO 380mm is the perfect size s/whhel for an early 911/912 ...

As Andy says, 380mm is perfect

Here's a picture of my 380 with a hockey puck, I find it just perfect . Originally I had a 400 but my hands would hit my leg.

Cheers G. Its not from JTP, its the one I've run since I had the car, I think you commented on it in Wales (many moons ago!).
The puck wasn't on it then though..

LWB s/wheels (except for 2.7RS) were 400mm
2.7RS, 914/4 & 914/6 s/wheels were 380mm (as is the s/wheel at the start of this thread)
Thanks very much Andy.
I have just edited this post as I wanted to ask if you know what the thickness of the rim of the original wheels were as well as I am looking for a wood rim steering wheel for my car and because original ones are hard to come by (and expensive) but I wanted to maintain the slim/thin rim look?

Marcus - for a standard 380mm or 400mm leather steering wheel, the rim thickness is 7.6mm around.

This is the 420mm woodrim in my '67
with Batwing
The rim is not a circular form but measures about 22mm across the face

Finally fitted the 380 wheel and hockey puck from KK and rather I'm happy with it.
