eer not true you just need to be tough anough to stand up to "the old boy network"that currently runs the board.

two of them have got to step down in March as they have served their 4 years.. please don't let them be replaced buy their like minded Mates.

I don't normally disagree with a lady but after a conversation with one current and one ex-director of PCGB this week, it seems that the ego thing is perceived as the biggest problem in getting done those things the members want. The "I'm in charge so we'll do what I say" syndrome is as prevalent as ever. Trouble is that so much commitment has to be made to being a director that few people want to do it, or can spare the time. The upper echelons of any car club aways seems to attract more than its share of ego-centric people. I do speak from personal experience too as I have given it a go. Nowadays I just stay out of the politics - life's too short! None of that means I don't have some sympathy for your views though.

thought thats what i was saying
you just put it a lot better than i did.
off the record i can forsee larry telling them to f*** off before too long we have had anough no one is stepping forward to support him and as you say life is too short.
and i guess thats why the PCGB is run by egotistic old boys who need to do this to make themselves feel important.

Flicking through PP this month did anyone see the 'artical' on the posh watches? I mean what in hells name have watches got to do with Porsches?

I don't own a watch , but ironically i quite like the watch bit
I also read 'Octane' magazine & reaaly enjoy their monthly artical on classic watches

I was once a member of PCGB (for one year) and the best bit was having this glossy watch sorry Porsche magazine drop throught the letter box every month that was free!! well until you get your reminder at the end of the year and have to cough up another £50 or what ever it is now. Thats when you sit back and think should I pay for that or get a REAL subscription to a quality magazine like 911 world.
Before you all start adding yes but what about all those club events you can attend bla bla bla. I prefer DDK as a club and 911 world as a magazine. I just get frustrated at "the Porsche club" being the only recognised club by Porsche hence the fact why I started this original link.

Yes I am over due for my subs for PCGB and DDK I will renew DDK but really thinking hmmm £50 for what? I am still in debate about rejoining or not..

Didn't renew my PCGB this year (sorry Phil), £56 is just too steep for a monthly Porsche dealer stock brochure.
The only club events I've encountered in PCGB are those dominated by polishers rather than drivers and the conversation always seems to be who did what to the car rather than how to do it!
Maybe a sweeping generalisation, but it's how it comes across
DDK offers a top balance of like minded petrol heads who understand their cars, have a sense of humor and aren't afraid of some p155 taking!

I am going to renew for one more year as when I get the 54 on the road I will need a letter to confirm the date and it's £75+vat from Porsche or £56 for membership inc letter and some polish/do you like my ( yet another ) new Silver Porsche mag every month for 12 earthly months...

Yup, I've seen the notepad - all the different highlighter pen colours and ticks and crosses looks dead technical to me
