The tyres were superb. I did comment to a few people during the day how delighted I was with their performance (for what is, after all, a road tyre). Very good.
Also, you'll be interested to discover my fuel consumption, especially in the light of the "ooh, my eyes are stinging, following you" comments.
I filled the tank just before joining the circuit and managed to nearly empty it. The warning light was on during the last session.
I'd averaged just under 13mpg which I didn't think too bad.
I confess I've never tested my fuel consumption in normal road use but it must be nearer (or possibly over) 20mpg? Not too bad.
The car behaved wonderfully all day, despite spending several hours being redlined. Drove home docile and fuss free.

One of the best bits was the drive down.
As always the roads to Goodwood from my house are a delight if you're up early enough. They weren't clear from traffic but not bad.
The weather started bright and sunny and it looked like it might be a dry day.





But it soon started raining and I thought the day would be a wash out.
However, you can see from the earlier pictures at the track that we had some sunny spells.
It was windy though. Gusts of 70mph we were told. The car did get a bit nervous in places around some parts of the track once the winds got up.
Overall we were very lucky with the weather which only really became apparent when I tried to get home. Attrocious conditions. Wading through knee high puddles.

sounds like a great day out. I have only ever had my 2.4S out on track at Cadwell & that was in teh wet too. To be honest I am a bit wary of my car in the wet as it like to break away a bit too quickly.

Fuel economy sounds similar to what I normally get ( pre stinging eyes ). I must get my MFI sorted out this winter

It was great fun following the early race cars on their narrow rubber, slipping and sliding. Philip Taysom was very quick in the ex-PMJT 993RS.

The white 911 is a genuine 2.7RS that rallied in the seventies and raced after that. It may be seen in Tour Auto next spring, and Vic has kindly offered to organise the support crew . I will be there if the free food offer stands.

Er, it's another Philip who now owns my old 993RS Along with a collection of stunning early cars too - jolly nice chap as well

I was only just quick enough to stop a certain Mr. Moss from lapping me! And not quick enough to avoid being blown away by that dark blue 1965 SWB - it did have a 2.5 short stroke in the back though!

That was what the red 993RS Clubsport was trying to do shortly before he spun off at Lavant!! I tell you that blue car was quick....
