No But, yes him too. his work on the bodywork and paint is fatastic.
then Lee at PR Services sorted out litraly everyting else. he had to re-do all the electrics as the motor electrictian we used via Lee Peacock recommendation, made a right balls up of it. (tell Phil T not to use him on his 356)

we have started calling this car "Lees car" as nearly everyones whos been involved with getting it on the road again has been called Lee. even the guy who arranged the insurence for me.

ahh the fun has started with the registration of the car.

DVLA just asked us for cheque for £90 for road tax

...cheeky little s*ds.
and apparently we haven't got the right importation documents.

.

i can see this is going to be a longwinded and painful process. meanwhile the car sits in the garage..boy its frustratng.

have you got a letter from PCGB or Porsche UK stating date of manufacture ?

yes, they are just trying it on with the tax as the first record of the car being registered is dated 1982..

documention we havedosn't include proof that customs were cleared and tax paid. but we have spoken to the importers and they have been very helpful(so far) so hopefully thats been sorted too..

just wasted another week.

still not managed to get proof that import duties were paid out of the importer. (and to think i WAS going to do a magazine article to say how helpful/wonderful they had been, How theres still some good guys out there who are a pleasure to deal with.

)

we are going to have to look into if we can get around this somehow. although i have a nasty feeling it'll mean us paying the import duty (what ever that is) if its too much then the car will have to stay in storage for a while.... what a waste of money

so frustrating, we should be running the car in ready for the 356 international. and at the moment we can't take the car out on the road.

at this moment in time i can't see us making it in time for the international.

Do you know which Shipping Company was used to import the car ?

Do you have any information as to exactly when the car was imported ?

If you do, then the Shipper should be able to get a duplicate of the C386 (the form which states that the relevant taxes have been paid) from Customs & Excise.

yes i do (in fact i thought we had it but DVLA insists a newform need to be completed by the importers)but it taking time to get them to get the paper work to us. they are charging us (way too much)for do it which i fully understand (and am happy ish with) but they are now dragging it out.
i'm getting pi55ed off with them and am starting to beleive they are just messing us about.
i think i need to start looking into alternative ways to get this car registered. there must be a way around. even if it means us pay the customes duty again. ??

It needs using else its just going to start rotting again.

hooray 6 weeks later i have finally got the importer to sign and send me the paperwork.

sent it all off to the DVLA. very very excited

then.

recieved it back today with a note to say my insurence cover note was no longer valid

my fault for not checking but so annoying. another week lost Grrr!!

yes. i do hope so. although we are really cutting it fine now. i have got to try and gently get 1000(ish) miles on the newly built engine and get it back down to PR services for a once over by 2nd week of April

i might have to see if i can slide it's service slot back a week

All in the good cause of porschering- why not. But I think your usual navigator might be more reliable

Take care old girl- and don't forget: b- roads for the first couple of hundred miles, gently increasing the revs, an oil change half way if necessary and then....en avant!!!

really getting eed off now.

I have got to take the car into the DVLC Nottingham to be inspected before they will issue a registration.

its already got an MOT so not quite sure why it needs another inspection

and it means Larry got to cancel an important meeting in order to make this appoinment

thank-goodness we have a car tailer.

i am not amused.
