I guess the first reg. as a privat plate went on to another car. when the car got back on the road in the early nineties a new plate was added.
do you have any further infos on the registrations?

Is 958 LGU a Glasgow registration number originally?

i don't know. it was first registered in Scotland as the 7th ever imported porsche to the country. it was registered then as HES 111. 958 LGU was given to the car in the early 90s. But it looks like, it was Kent.

HES is very definitely a Tayside or North Fife registration number from back then.

fife sounds correct to me, as the first owner lived there. the car was ordered via grassicks garage.

.
There aren't many of the 356 'old guard' left from the early days of PCGB - Mike Smith being one of the few.
If you haven't been in touch already I'd try contacting Fred Hampton as he has been one of the other key figures relating to RHD 356's for the past 40+ yrs.
I haven't been a PCGB member for over 20 yrs but there are others on here who could give you his contact details ...
