The Zadar Old Town is very impressive. Jeremy will be happy to hear we are back on the culinary track. A super 3 course tasting menu today. Mostly fish. A very fine monk fish, in bacon, main. The only dish we wouldn't order again was the desert. Perhaps we were already full.

Walking tour at 11 tomorrow. Strangely our SIM cards stopped working in Croatia. Thank goodness there was WiFi at the lakes. 2nd SIM installed and we are back in business.

The petrol is quite a bit cheaper in Austria than Germany. Then even cheaper again in Croatia. I got confused during the fill up in Austria. I put about 25 euros of Super before I realised it was E10.

I might have to adjust the windscreen wipers before we leave as the drivers wiper was interfering with the other. I'm not sure is a loose nut or motor issue. Hopefully, the loose nut. Having a USB charger in the car is super. It's connected to the cigarette lighter wire. Means we are getting phone low battery panic. We need not really worry as we have 4 extra batteries.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

The video doesn't capture the tightest corners but we can back down a tricky road in a lorry with 2 trailers. Successfully turning corners that would be tight for the 356. I had a quick look and there was a pushrod and spring coupling.

Maybe a system like this?Image

This is our first double day stop so a bit of house keeping

- tighten up the bolt behind the windscreen wiper as the driver's side was moving. I couldn't really get it tight as it kept turning. Same for the other side but I've removed the play.

- put screw back on right carb filter

- wiped down the engine bay. I think the 25 year old gaskets need replacing

- put 400ml of oil in. I'm trying to be careful as I overfilled on our last trip

Here is the Sea Organ at Zadar. There are seven notes. The sea pushes water into the pipes and air escapes out of an higher pipe. Sound is pushed towards an upper chamber. For each section to play the sea needs to be over the lower pipe and under the upper pipe. There are 7 notes based off a traditional choral scale.

I've probably confused you. More information here

Wow Croatia. What a last 80k run (Route 8) to Dubrovnik through the wine country. An amazing road and scenery then the sea comes into view.

Dubrovnik parking maths 30 euros for 1 day and 70 for two. Pls you have to pay the daily rate within 15 mins of parking or it's 3 euros an hour!

However, the city is stunning

Now we are in a fish restaurant spending too much money.ImageImageImageImageImage

Yes we eat at Proto Fish Restaurant. Not cheap. We have one fish and one meal set meal. We sat on the terrace. According to the guide tiger burger is good and has a Terrence too.

I think you will be blown away by Dubrovnik. I just had a early morning wander by West Harbour to the Keep. However, bring comfortable shoes and be ready for some steps.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Unfortunately, our 356a with Webers has stopped running in Croatia. It was running well but then started to sound rough. It then started to struggle on the hills and run quite hot. Seemed to happened on the transition from idle to main. Then it stopped running up a long hill. After it cooled down I got it restarted but ran very hot again so we are now recovered to a garage. I've removed the fuel filters on the inlet to the webers and it still not running right. I'm going to clean out the idle jets. I also started taking the lead of the top of the distributor one by one to see if one doesn't affect it. I only done 2 and they caused the engine to stop. Seems to be smoking more than usual but hard to say. We were getting 35 mpg before the problem.

Any other ideas?

Points Cam worn down on the distributor rotor closing up the points? If you still have points? Crack in distributor cap. If it is smoking it is over fueling, float needle valves?

.

Check the tightness of the distributor clamp - if it's loose the distributor might have rotated slightly, altering the timing ...

Popped your quandary on Social so will post any replied here:

Fouled spark plug ? Running on 3 cylinders only and therefore running “hot “and sounding “rough” ?
I’d check all spark plugs
Best of luck
