Still fumbling my way through the loom installation and all was going well until this afternoon! Whilst rummaging for something else, I came across another loom section. It has been chopped which I'm surprised at because it's not something that I would do... or did I? It's been many years since I pulled this out and with a frayed section clearly beyond use, it could've been easier to just chop it off and that might explain the barbarian in me way back when.
Currently I have a loom installed through the tunnel which comes out over the torsion bar and into the engine bay. Wires go towards the control panel and over to the other side etc. All dandy.
Can anyone identify this other piece of loom please?
Thanks in advance.
That multi-point round connection looks like rear light units to me.
My car has also been apart for a long time but I'm pretty sure there is a bit of a loom running between indicator units inside the back panel.
That bunch of single wires with some male plugs on the end could also be the remains of the big oblong multi plug at the back of the electrics panel inside the left rear wing. It does all sorts of things, like reversing light so it makes sense that there is a link between oblong plug and light units.
Good luck!

Thanks Al.
I thought the same. The thing puzzling me was the fact that the round plug was / is compacted with crud and was no way connected when I got the car; like it could've been an old piece of loom just thrown in the back that got replaced.
I'm off to look at another 70 coupe this morning so should be sorted after that.
am pretty sure your last photo showing the rubber connector with the 2 ears is the connection to the fuel pump..... which would explain why it was covered in crud....you can work backwards from there to work out what the rest is? i wonder if you have the back end of another loom,,,,

1944 VW Schwimmwagen (originally a Porsche typ128, eventually VW166)
A bunch of other crap (according to my wife)
Looking at my 1970 911E, as flat 6 says the bunch of wires go to the 14 pin connecter on the electrics panel in the engine compartment. I'm sure the rubber connector with the ears is for the back up lght switch. The black smaller cable is for the rear window wiper, they put this through the tunnel with the main loom even if you don't have it.

Thanks for the info Andrew
The plot is definitely thickening! Getting there slowly.

Thank you.
I went to look at another 70 on Saturday and the chap (Steve - Goss Hall Werks) was very helpful. He pointed out that the other 14 pin plug that I'd said was missing, might actually be still connected to the engine itself. I haven't been back to check this yet but I think and I'm hoping he's right. If so, then this piece is just an old replaced part that must have been left in the car perhaps.
Time will tell.
Thanks again.
