Black paint around the door edges

Post by Loz »

Hello all,

Can anyone explain the point of brushing the black paint around the inside edge of the doors please?

I get the point of doing where the carpet lays and areas look better black that might show thru the carpet cut outs, but around the door cards?
I just don't get it.

I haven't actually offered up the door cards yet so apologies if this is self explanatory. There in storage so quicker to ask here.
Many thanks.

.

I think the logic behind it was so that when the door is shut, no body colour is visible inside the car.

However, this only makes sense if the car has a black interior !!

Exactly Andy.

Also when the door is open, it sounds like you'll be able to see the masked black line appearing from the edge of the door card. Sounds a bit naff to me if I'm right.
I'm not going to rush on this. I may buck the trend. I'm doing my best to follow factory ways, but don't want to spoil it at the same time.

IMO, when the door is shut little of the door is visible, but if it is body colour, it will show up. With black edging, it is less conspicuous (unless you have a light interior and dashboard I guess).

If your door panel is not perfectly flat when fitted, you will see body colour around the gaps. Especially a vibrant Green Loz. :)

Cheers Dave.
I think I'm going to have to get the cards and see how it looks. It's no major hassle to mask off and brush around, but I liked the idea of nice shiny green right up to the card.

Thanks all.

From one 2626 to another …..
Why not Leave as is ..

It’s relatively easy to do at a later date, if required ….
