tuning a 911 with PMO Carbs

As per title

I have a 911 fitted with a 2.7 on PMO carbs and ssi’s in the shop that needs a tune and final set up.

Car goes well

Everything’s new, rebuilt or refurbished
Cars done the running in miles and It needs that last bit of work to make it spot on.

I was thinking people with rolling road accessible to them would be ideal but experience will trump a RR

But I can’t think of any companies that do Carbs & Classics with rolling roads near me!
I have an idea I’ll end up in Aylesbury at Neil Bainbridges shop. I have a lot of respect for his skill set.

Any recommendations for rolling road or alternatives are welcomed

I have a hot 3.2 on big PMO 50mm carbs, twin plug etc.

For the final tune I used a very local RR who deal with about everything 4 wheeled, modern to classics. They are in Dudley West Midlands, so no good for you.
Bainbridge would be a great choice i think.

Many are put off by PMO carbs, but one they know DCOE jets etc can be used, it falls into place.
Tricky bit is getting the RR operator to tune them for drivability (road) engine rather than max WOT bhp.

Cold start is a bit of a churning slog.
By this I mean pump the throttle hard a few times and turn it over and keep tying for about 10 secs. It will catch but is hard to keep it running, but soon it will be consistent inside of a minute.
When fully warm it is very drivable.
It also hot starts throttle free almost instantly every time.

My old 2.2T engine was the same!

Possibly of interest, but this is my 3.2 on the last rolling road run when it was about 10 miles old, absolutely fresh engine, so we were careful.

Please turn the sound up when watching, but the car drives like the engine sounds.

I use a guy in north Essex, old school rolling road, no computers involved, no power runs. He is a carb whisperer!

Sorted.
Northampton Motorsport were great to talk too, no doubt they would have got the job done but were booking work Late June.

Sent the vehicle to BS Motorsport. My mate Dave works there. So now all is well.
Much easier to start, went well before but this little session has made everything drop into place.

Caught up with this thread late, apologies. Glad you got it sorted, and if ever you're stuck again, I tune PMO's (and Webers, Zenith, Solex, MFI & CIS) for the road (and track) by ear, eye, hands and right foot (and rolling road if you really want the expense, but that's not the best place for part-load road driveability tuning).

Interesting Mike.
My hot 3.2 in the race Lola-Porsche has (too big) 50mm PMO's on, made 298 bhp @6400 on the new engine rollers, We stopped there as the engine was new-born.

It is a bit rough to cold start, hot start is really good, and the tick over is a bit uneven and one side (4,5,6) pops a few times on tick-over, always wanted it to be smoother.

Would you touch a race only car where mid engine rpm is not too important as it is a hillclimb engine, so tick over or WOT is the norm.
