15 inch tyre recommendations
Ok so for the last 20 or so years I've been using Toyo proxes on my backdate. 205/55x15 fronts and 225/50x15 rears.
Just gone to change them following a wheel refurb and found that Toyo no longer make the 205/55 size!
My fronts aren't too bad (the backs are) so for the moment I've just replace the rears which is fine. However it's just put off a problem that I'm going to have to face at some stage.
Can anyone suggest alternatives that I could fit all round? (I don't really want different makes front to back) I like the profile of the tyres (and have loved the toyos) - I tend to drive it on trips and tend to push on in the twisties so I'm not keen on going to a higher profile tyre.
Thanks for any suggestions
Mark

I've got Hankooks on the 964 and I'm impressed with them so far.
Re: 15 inch tyre recommendations
Mark Toyo still do 205/50/15 to complete the set?

Re: 15 inch tyre recommendations
Mark, as you are finding out the choice of 15 inch tyres has reduced significantly in the past couple of years. I had a set of Pirelli P6000s on my RS Rep which needed replaced a few years ago. They were not available when I wanted them and the Continentals I was waiting on, failed to materialise before a planned trip. As a result, I ended up with a set of HiFlys on the car. Surprisingly enough they proved to be very good and I even tracked them, where they were capable of keeping up with others on high spec performance tyres. Also when compared to the Pirelli’s which break away very quickly when on the limit, the HiFlys were more progressive.
I’m not saying go and get a set, just don’t confine yourself to the limited choice the big name brands now provide.
I’m now back on P6000s, but they came at a price that started with “Ouch!” I just hope they are worth it

Re: 15 inch tyre recommendations
I've used Dunlop Sort Blu on my 911 and other cars, had 4 sets so far.
Good in the wet, so perfect for a well driven 911 like yours!
Price will be cheap but good tyres for general use with a good range of sizes in 15"

I was thinking that but maybe I put him off by not wanting to increase the profile

Re: 15 inch tyre recommendations
Does anybody remember when Colway used to do Pirelli pattern tyres in various compounds for road/rally use?
