Given it's been through Export56 it doesn't seem a bad price - local dealer to me

Engine number looks legit. ;)

I guess in an old race car all sorts will have happened, but I’m thinking of withdrawing my interest.

I’ve just read some of the listing.

So the owner of this car paid someone off to drop their claim that they had the real car?

It’s quite a fun read. The ID was confirmed by pigeon reinforcing welds that only the race team could lay claim to.

I like the way the rival car is described as a ‘parts car’ and ‘visually similar’. No love lost then!

That gives an idea of where the sellers premium is.....Bonham can sell for seller's minimum by slashing their cut....finishing the day with a good sale rate can be pretty expensive.

Looks like it was a no sale. Not too sure what to make of that bid. It's strong enough to suggest the chassis came 4th at Le Mans but weak enough to give credence to the claim the chassis plate, engine and transaxle didn't

Either way, arguably the most interesting 911 to go to auction since the (more original) R13 passed against estimate $6 - $8m at Amelia Island in 2018

A better bellwether for the current market was S/T replica 9111121479 which passed at £90k against estimate £100 - £150k. The same car sold for £97,500 in 2020

The Spitfire was a no sale at £3.1m

Meanwhile, on track Richard Tuthill had a big off in the swb race

Remembering of course that bids under the reserve may not be real bids at all…

The auction house would have been chatting to the seller of the RS live so may well have got them to drop the reserve, but your point definitely stands about high commission - that £97k green hot rod would have cost ~£105k net from Collecting Cars inc. their 7.2%, Bonhams want 18% so the £90k bid is £106k all in.

Blimey, that goodwood off was quite heavy....Once he's stopped aching, there'll be a persistent pain in the wallet to shake off too....😭

Some very nice cars indeed but I'd love to see the "very original..." 2.8 V6 in this one... :-)

All the best
