Rare version of early 911 400mm leather steering wheel ...
.
This is the rare version with the slightly thicker rim - part no 901.347.081.20
Dated 12/'70.
The 'usual' leather wheel - as fitted to '69-'73 911E/S (& optional on T & 912) models - was part no. 901.347.081.10
The wheel has obviously had its spokes, etc repainted at some stage but it still retains its original leather covering which is in very good condition with none of the typical sun-dried/cracked areas.
However, please remember that this wheel is now over 50 years old &, as such, shows inevitable signs of 'wear & tear'.
I much prefer wheels with their original Factory-applied leather covering - once they've been recovered they never feel the same.
There are a few sections where the stitching is missing but I would happily use this wheel in any early 911/912 I owned.
This wheel is available on its own or at any stage up to a complete 'package' with everything required to install it :
- excellent hornpad, spring-loaded horn contact pin, original cancelling ring, spring & 'cup' plus mounting nut & washer (as shown in final 2 photos):
Price ranges from £450 for the wheel on its own up to £650 for the complete package ready to install - prices are + postage.

Re: Porsche 911/912 400mm leather steering wheel - rare version ...
I think this wheel is the one also supplied in the ‘appearance group’ or ‘comfort package’ along with various other extras so if your car has option 470 on your cardex this may well be the wheel for you.
Nice wheel Andy.

Mike

Treated the wheel to an application of leather polish - it did buff up well :
If there's no interest here over the next week it'll be heading for ebay ...

I must admit I'm surprised this is still available ... now on ebay.
Special DDK price of £450 for the wheel + hornpad + horn contact pin.

Any chance of a reduction to 380mm? What a lovely wheel, if only I had a car to put it in!
