Village car group run

Post by hot66 »

I live in a pretty small village but for some reason we have quite a large concentration of car enthusiasts.

Recently Started having monthly meets for drinks and banter in the pub but tonight was a run into the dales for fish and chips at Hawes followed by a run over butter tubs and then back home to the pub. Very steady due to mix of cars and having the wife’s in too. Not everyone could make it but we had a good varied mix of cars ( makes a change seeing a herald in the rear view mirror ). Nice to have this group within the village 8)

We had :

Mk2 escort
Datson 240z
Porsche 2.4S
Porsche 996
Alvis
Mg Tc race car
Triumph herald convertible
Mgb
Mgb V8 Sebring
Mgf x 2
Merc A45

Thought you might like the pics

very cool. We have a classic car run in our village every year as part of a village festival. The run usually starts with everyone in the church car park, where the scouts do bacon sandwiches on the bbq and lots of people come to look. Then the cars go off for a circa 80 mile run getting back around 3pm to park in the village playground as a display where other things are going on. There are up to 50 classics of all sorts. Its nice to have these local events on. Its amazing what's squirelled away in peoples garages.

That's great. I live in a very small village - the only pub closed 2 weeks after we moved in 6 years ago and even the farm shop has given up! There's about 700 residents in total. But we have quite a few petrolheads.

There's a guy with a couple of 30s / 40s hot rods, 2 TR3s and a GT4 RS. There's a Morgan, a few more newer Porsches including a brand new Turbo and a Taycan but I think we'd struggle to make it a meet - would look more like a fancy dogging outing.

thats fantastic. When you start looking around, its all there just below the surface. Having 'retired' a couple of months ago, i started probing locally and for CLM, i have managed to rattle out a 911S, 65 fastback mustang, e-type v12, jensen GT, 3 Healey 3000 and an Aston Martin DBR1 replica all within a few miles. We are glamping on the inside of the porsche curves....Leaving Friday morning, coming back Monday evening....... See you there

2 pubs, 1 shop, 1,200 people...according to the last census.... not a bad hit rate
1972 911S
1944 VW Schwimmwagen (originally a Porsche typ128, eventually VW166)
A bunch of other crap (according to my wife)

we are in a compound inside the circuit? Is DDK there as well? I have to confess to losing track of arrangements! Be nice to pop over and maybe meet some avatars in the flesh....

This post prompted me to get my village idiots organised. Had a great run around North Yorkshire with dinner at the Square and compass in north Rigton enroute Image
