The only other contender Porsche-wise was an early IB model (ideally an early '74) but it would need to be something very special - & nothing seemed to be on the market that fitted the bill.

So it didn't seem likely that I'd be buying another Porsche at this stage – so what else was of interest ?

I've found myself repeatedly drawn towards these cars – I love the innovation/quirkiness of '60's/'70's Citroens but wonder when/what I'd actually use it for – plus they are a bit too big for me (but I will probably have to tick this off the 'list' at some stage)

- it would need to be an original Dieppe-built car (& ideally a Gordini-engined model) but prices for decent cars were out of my budget.

I did consider one very nice-looking car which had been 'restored' by its previous owner (in Belgium) but when put up on a lift it was obvious that the chassis hadn't been included in the work.

The price was too high anyway …

The only Italian car I considered was a Maserati Merak ... I love the looks - & they seem great value compared to most of their contemporaries – but again a bit too big/heavy (& probably too 'exotic' for me)
