Weber carb floats soldering.

Post by murray »

I found a couple of the Weber 40 brass floats had tiny leaks so after cleaning them and soldering they sealed OK. My question relates to how much difference the small bit of soldering would have made to getting them back into use ? Will the tiny bit of solder affect the flotation aspect enough to affect the running ?

If you use as little solder as possible and check the float level afterwards, you’ll be fine.

Problem is that if the weight of the solder can tip the float sideways, it may rub against the side of the chamber and stick.

You should be okay.

Over the years I have soldered lots of Brass floats ! dry them out with a heat gun and then solder never had any problem!
