Great story, it was Jenks writing about his 356 in Motor Sport which kindled my love for Porsche. I bought my first one, a 1958 A cabriolet from Newton Oils who were the agents in Birmingham at the time. Brings back lovely memories. Thanks.

Looks like the 356 is up for auction shortly. If anywhere near the estimate it’s a pretty reasonable way in to some great motoring. Shame there won’t be a 356 at the house to go with the plaque.

Well Spotted!
And yes, if it’s within estimate then it’s a jolly good buy, and far better than one in LHD.
There are a few things not right, earlier seats for example.
I’ll be watching to see what it makes!!!
It doesn't matter if you speak your mind, because those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter.......!

Just to say “I’ve been waiting for decades to see the car without the cover!”.

(So, yes, of course you are way ahead of me by now...)

When I open the gate and walk up the path to ring the bell I see a plaque:

Great story

Unfortunately they've spelt "Stirling" wrong on the sign !

More upsetting is they got the year of the MM wrong too!

I owe them a visit (I went back and loaned them some Jenks literature), and plan to offer to buy the house a “proper” metal plaque.

Shame the car is selling

The car needs a lot of work from his description of running repairs while he’s had it

Jerks was a sidecar passenger to Eric Oliver when he won a World Championship before his car days and I used to meet him at Mallory Park’s VMCC vintage race of the year in the seventies. Stan Woods and lots of others used to be there then. It was a great day out.

In those days I had an ex Tyrell Smith works Rudge TT Replica amongst others.
