Allen - genius

Post by Bruce M »

Allen Millyard.
I’m not into bikes but vaguely recalled the name from old posts here when it popped up on you-tube.

Great lockdown material and jaw dropping in its understated genius. If you like engineering in a shed.

This one is obvious in its genius status, given the precision assembly involved. Especially like the trick with the gauge blocks:

This one, part way through, how to get a perfect radius hammer form with tools in your garage.

Can’t wait for more!

His workmanship is incredible! The ultimate 'man in a shed' – creating mechanical marvels using the most basic of machine tools. Simply stunning. Four, five and six cylinder two-strokes, V8 four strokes created from two 'fours'. Nothing is impossible...

Great jobs done, and look at the workshop!
Green with envy, but so nice to see DIY is alive.

Wow, what a guy he makes it look so easy! Really sensible working attitude. Those you tubes of his are so watchable. Having my first 10 years of working life as first a five year toolmaking apprentice then five years working doing that in a toolmaking shop it reminds me of the pleasure as he gets also of completing a piece of work that fits and looks so good.

Really enjoyed those videos.

Really enjoyable videos, they remind me of John Renwick who was my next door neighbour in Burgess Hill when I was living there from 1976 to 1981, there are a series of videos of his exploits on Youtube, well worth an hour or so to watch.

Both Allen and John are extremely clever guys.
Proper old school engineering with fantastic results.

More content has been added to Allen’s channel & he’s now deservedly got a growing sub count.

Had to share the latest one. A V12 conversion.

He's been a great character on The Motorcycle Show, I think Henry Cole is in love with him
Amazing what he can do in his garage and looks such an unassuming little man.

A Legend for sure.
Line boring a crank case with a pistol drill!

Quite inspirational, his modified Hondas are fantastic, and close to my heart atm.
