Great looking tyre, good in the wet, great on track and nice square shoulders.

Hi

I am sorry, i wish i had seen this tread earlier.

we now have proper tyres for these cars.

&

In fact Pirelli also make https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/pirell ... p7-n4.html

They will be much better.

These are what Porsche have homologated. I hope i'm not too late.

In the US these come from Lucas https://www.lucasclassictires.com/Pirel ... o_c255.htm

Wow those P7s are pricey!

If you buy Pirelli or Michelin Tyres for a modern Porsche they are similar prices.

you would expect these classic tyres to cost loads more wouldn't you?

I think the prices are really good for what they are.

Hmm... Bridgestone S02s are less than half the price?

And modern Porsches tend to have much bigger and much lower profile tyres so I'm not really seeing the comparison I'm afraid.

Yes but a Bridgstone SO2 is not a relative comparison. that is just a modern tyre. it is built to work in a different environment.

Carcass size does effect cost. but batch size effects price. and also the P7 has a different carcass.

with these P7 tyres you are not just buying any old tyre. it is a very different carcass. in the same way i will happily tel you that the P7 will handle better on your late '70s or '80s 911. If you had a Ford Mondeo i would tel you your car will handle better on the Bridgestone SO2. Horses for courses. different car chassis compliment different tyre carcasses.

really it is good news that Pirelli have gone to the investment to set up to make a good tyre for these cars again.

Yep Bridgestone make great tyres. but that SO2 will not suit your early911 as well as the P7 https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/pirell ... to-p7.html
