1977 911 3.0 Carrera Targa

Post by Andy-O »

Hi all I have for sale my interesting 911-
Restored 1977 RHD Porsche 3.0 Carrera Targa in Metallic Red.
Not to be confused with the 3.0 SC, the 3.0 Carrera was a two year only production car, produced in very small numbers only for the European market.
The 3.0 Carrera was the last of the 70's Carrera's lineage; preceded by the 1974-5 2.7 Carrera MFI and the legendary 73 RS Carrera. So had quite a reputation to uphold.
Beautiful, very rare Porsche, (circa 27 RHD 3.0 Carrera Targa imported to UK in 1977), the only RHD car produced in this colour.
The car comes with the 'Sport' option pack which includes the high bolster Recaro Sport seats (black Pinstripe, freshly reupholstered by Piper Trimmers), front and rear spoilers, Bilstein dampers, wider 7 and 8 x 16 inch Fuchs wheels.
The Carrera 3.0 is fitted with a variation of the 930 Turbo's 2994 cc engine (minus the turbocharger), a direct development of the 2.8 RSR racing engine of 1974. The engine (dubbed the 930/02) features K-Jetronic CIS. It develops 200 PS, 0-60 in 6.1 seconds and top speed of 148mph.
The 3.0 Carrera is an often overlooked supercar, in it's day it cost substantially more than a Ferrari 308 and was over a second faster 0-60 than a Lamborghini Countach.
The 3.0 Carreras really are a thrill to drive, with 200bhp available at your right foot and weighing a mere 1,120kg it is perfect for spirited country road adventures; also with the added bonus of open air Targa motoring so one can receive the full effect of the flat six soundtrack- driving Nirvana!
Fantastic car, last of the 1970's Carrera lineage and represents an important step in the evolution of the 911.
She has covered 135k miles, with the motor receiving a rebuild 10k miles ago; starts on the button, runs great, sounds great. The 915 gearbox is spot on, gear changing is a breeze.
Freshly serviced including gearbox oil, ready to go.
Perfect car for a collector or speculator/ investor.
These are selling in Europe now for in excess of £80k, not as rare as the RHD and minus the 'Sport Pack'. This is a totally unique and original car, you simply will not see another one the same.
PX considered.
£56,000
