I remember how huge they looked when they first appeared - I think they were the widest British production car at the time.

Saw that Mk X also, rusty rear door on the other side.
The rear axle was a favourite with hot rodders in the early 70's but sooooo wide it was untrue. I used the S type rear, just right!

Today the car looks absolutely massive but low, a dramatic design.

Oulton was crammed full of interesting stuff, great meeting.

A friend of mine had one years ago. My wife and I could both sit on one side of the rear armrest. Put on a bit of weight now though.

They had an E Type engine and BW auto box, so not terribly fast and slippery seats so if you cornered hard, passengers flew across the car into the door or the driver.

Polishing them (externally) doesn't make them any faster but reducing weight does ... :wink:
