915 gearbox wanted

Post by moggy »

Oops, my 1303 seems to have eaten my gearbox so it's time to upgrade to something more serious. Anyone got a 915 box out there in good order?

Cheers

915 gearbox wanted

Given number of ratios are unimportant, why not fit a stout T2 box? Just a thought.

The "6 rib" / 091 / T25 sort of thing?

Now THAT Bruce my good friend is a bloody good idea. It'll get me quickly and relatively cheaply out of the shite for now. The Type2 output flanges should match my 944 CV joints too. Good plan.

It probably won't have the ratios I need to achieve my target of 150mph, but at least it will give me the time to have a 915 box built that can get me to that goal.

Cheers

Nope. On second thoughts, after looking at the available gear ratios of the Bus 6 rib box it's back to a 915 for me. The bus box would be seriously screaming over 100mph, and from the looks of it there's just as much work to get a Bus box into a Beetle as there is a 915 (maybe more :? ).

I'm still on the lookout for a 915 box please.... pretty please :) .

I have a spare three speed sporto box from an early SC but you would have to somehow sort a clutch out.
