Re: EKO181K - 1972 Porsche 911T 2.5
I was recently looking for tow hook information on DDK without success so thought I'd post this for reference in case anyone searches in the future....
....as ever, when I struggle to find the information I seek a question to those 'that know' normally points me in the right direction and Mr Dave 'ST' O'Connor came up trumps with this link..... http://ww.early911sregistry.org/forums/ ... S-Tow-Hook
A part I never knew existed but listed in the Porsche option list for the Competition Driver, Tow Hook part number 901 506 031 01 .....
.....I decided to give mine a splash of red to make it more obvious......
....btw, if anyone knows where I could obtain a copy or reprint of the yellow option booklet in the photo above then please let me know?
Cheers,

Re: EKO181K - 1972 Porsche 911T 2.5
Well, as you may or may not be aware, this car is featured in the current issue of Classic Porsche Magazine
Keith asked to feature the car a while ago so I had it mind. At the time the car was coming near to completion I was helping Jamie Lipman with a few things and he kindly volunteered to shoot the car for the magazine.......Jamie Lipman!!! , it doesn't get any better than that!
We kicked around a few ideas of where to shoot the car and Jamie came up with idea of Blackrock Sands in North Wales......as we waited for good weather to coincide with a gap in Jamie's diary I started to realise just how busy Jamie is and how often he's out of the country. Feeling uncomfortable with dragging Jamie away to North Wales with what little free time he has, I had the idea of photographing the car myself.....after all, if Jamie can paint cars, surely I could take a few decent snaps!
Still liking the idea of a beach shoot I figured Pendine Sands was a little closer and I was also able to gain access through the local Council.......the clincher was when Richard Murphy asked if anyone could take a look at a 911SC in Swansea, I was happy to help and it gave me a good excuse to take a rekkie to Pendine.......what a location!....
.....so, after one aborted attempt due to bad weather I set off at 2:00AM one Friday morning with the car on a trailer and dozen Krispy Kreme's for Frank from the local Council who had kindly arranged to meet me at 5:00AM to let me onto the beach....

Re: EKO181K - 1972 Porsche 911T 2.5
....Jamie had given me a few pointers of what format to shoot in etc so I felt kinda prepared, the tide and weather was perfect. Frank left me to it and I unloaded the car and put it in position......
.....and that's when I became overwhelmed by the whole experience and totally out of my depth.......what the f**k was I doing standing on a Welsh in the middle of nowhere with a camera in my hand!!! .....I started taking photos aimlessly, gradually calmed down and figured I'd work on my normal principle of taking hundreds of photographs in the hope that one or two might turn out ok!....
.....initially I thought the results were pretty average but Jamie came to the rescue with help and advice on processing and this improved them no end......a bit mad maybe but a great learning curve and all good fun in the end!
Special thanks to Jamie Lipman, cheers mate .....and also to Keith for featuring the car, honoured!
For those that love photos of orange 911's......
