SWB 911 - Too good to be true....

Post by ivory1 »

This caught my eye ..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1966-Porsche- ... 234f66614a

Intrigued, I became involved - and began to get taken in by the "Vendor" , 36 photos, prompt email responses, phone numbers addresses, websites , and they were happy for me to fly over - began to believe it may be true- they sent me a request for a £1,600 deposit on a very official looking document - but thanks to three people on here I dodged a bullet - thanks !

http://www.axvallclassics.com - I'm not implicating them and sorry if their name and identity has been ruthlessly scammed - Thanks Nick

Here's the original link http://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/por ... 966/266583

The lesson I've learnt is to enjoy the cars I have and stop chasing more ...and if it looks too good to be true ...it probably is :compress:

Are you implicating Axvall Imports in the scam? If not, it would be nice to say so.

I am Nick, its a scam, I have been speaking to Nils Casper at Axvall last night and again this morning, all the same hoo-hah as Ivory1, started getting a funny feeling when the initial ebay "Classified" for £16900 changed to an auction after we'd agreed that I would fly over and see it and he'd send me this contract nonsense and I needed to send a deposit. His number is on the website, but he neglected to mention that the car was also listed on Classic Driver.....last year for $115,000. Fortunately I'd taken a look at street view of the address first, its a motorway.

http://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/por ... 966/266583 - But really $115,000 for that ? Things have gone nuts haven't they ?

Bloody time wasting scamming bar steward.

Hate scrotes like that.....looks like sh!t, smells like sh!t, wonder what it tastes like

I don't know these guys, but I had to phone to find out what's going on. I told him I had seen the advert on Classic Driver, and he claims they did a deal on what is a VERY rusty car, and he confirmed the sales price at £16,900. I guess the only way to find out is fly to Sweden and have a look. The car is on their website and is located in Sweden.

So he claimed the car was VERY rusty did he ? That's not what he emailed me last night when I asked him about the areas around the torsion bar etc and how rusty he thought the body shell actually was

Please read below...

"Andy its not complicated, looks ok, Solid, is not so bad, can be fixed. Is not the worst project i ever seen, It can be done easy. Except the floor , everything looks OK.

Thank you,

Nils "

Also try hitting the Facebook link on the Axvallclassic site - and see what you get :? No posts about them and their restoration projects etc or normal car restoration activity- likes / friends etc

The Facebook link is to a self-build web site company, obviously from a standard template, I see no issues there. You said he sent more pictures to you, are they taken in the same location as the original US pics?
I know of another 1965 911 project in the USA at $120K, but I can't promise that's not a scam as well.

On a final note - I emailed Nils expressing my reservations - telling him I was a genuine buyer and asked him if he would take a snap on his phone of him by the car outside Axvall premises with todays newspaper - or something that would reassure me the deal was genuine and the car was there ,and bingo -following previous enthusiastic and prompt responses from him - the line went dead

Enough said - one day wasted is enough

Do you know what ivory1 ? I did the very same thing. And do you know what ?? Tumbleweed..........

And when I spoke to him last night and asked about rust, he said, other than the floors, it is very solid, very solid indeed. Its funny how that became incredibly rusty when you mentioned the Classic Driver ad Nick !

Axvall is a 4 hour drive from Stockholm.......how incredibly convenient.

As with ivory1, I am also out.

If someone goes and sees it and it really is there, please let me know so I can rue it along with the 356 Speedster i didn't buy for $5500 in 1982 and the Dino that I also didn't buy for $5000 in 1983 !!!!

What is bizarre is their ebay account has over 900 feedbacks......how ???

Yeah I checked that out and most of the stuff sold was music related or other stuff mostly small value items so it could have been a legitimate account at some point or they have hijacked someone else's account to use to try and gain credibility!

It seems a lot of effort to scam fairly minor amounts of money, but each to his own.
