Fuel sender....

Post by Ben_W »

Guys,

Have a couple of questions about the fuel sender for. 65-68 912.

Firstly, I think they were the same for some 911 & 912, plus a certain year range 914. Is this correct and does anyone have the part number please?

Secondly, does anyone have the dimensions of one please? I need to know if one will fit in my VW Beetle fuel.tank without mods.....

Thanks

Hi, I've just replaced mine, bought from porsche direct, around £90 with club discount. Part number (p/n 901.741.801.00) sender unit. I have a 1968 car, straight replacement, I would also do the cork gasket.

you can repair the original ones. I used to buy them at swap meets and take them apart with care. Often sellers would be thinking I got rid of that part for £5 and it doesn't work. BUT! What used to happen was the old fuel would glaze and leave a crystal substance on the two very fine wires that the float raised and dropped on..

Carefully clean this and the float would rise and fall with ease.. even had it on my own 69 912 and it's been fine now for 14 years or so..

easy job to do just had to work out to do it. I have even re wired a broken one and again that works fine and is in my 65 car. Good luck..
