Flapper Box in Stainless Steel - options

Post by pete917 »

I wouldn't mind changing my flapper boxes for stainless ones. Can anyone recommend a good unit and supplier?

I think you mean heat exchangers Pete.

SSI from the USA were generally regarded as the best but the company was taken over recently by Dansk. All tooling was shipped across the pond to Europe and some say the quality has gone down. I have no first hand knowledge.

You might contact Andy (lightweight_911) or Brendan (BJMullan) on here who both have recent contacts for alternatives from Germany.

Regards
Mike

Hi Pete - we met on the last but one IB equinox run to Hastings.

I got those from eBay - look good but had a couple of quality issues with them. Cable stop was incorrectly positioned on one box, and the outlet was too big go the hose. Nothing major Bit of fiddling needed but working well. Cost circa 160£ from eBay seller 'stilcar'

Dansk do the shorter ones for the earlier cars but not for the g50

All the best

I bought some of the dansk ones which were of reasonable quality and fitted ok. Functionally fine too. Not much more expensive than mild steel ones and will hopefully be another fit and forget item.
