Tim, I fully agree and sorry the photos were misleading the scotch locks have gone as have a multitude of other electrical sins....all covered in quality heat shrink before covering in fibre sleeping for heat and abrasion resistance.
Many years ago I learnt how F1 looms are made since when I've been very specific in how I make / improve my car wiring.

Good idea this ... that car occasionally overheated a fuse without burning it...second from bottom in the fusebox if I remember always seemed to work just to remove and return it.
Will be much better with new wiring and perhaps a new fusebox for safety
Cheers

I used to have a 72 911 I drove every day... Now I have projects...
'73 911 Track car ...being put back together
'59 Conv D... refit underway...Upholstery done !!
I could never bring myself to take it that far
It was just too much fun to drive it as it was
Youve done a standout jobsofar
Mine should be finished soon too ...will look to catchup when they are both done
Cheers

New fuse boxes in and most of the wiring figured out. Still few bits to figure out.
Thanks to your help I've also managed to trace a little more history including the chap you bought it from. He was really helpful. Waiting on DVLA to see what they come back with for the early 80's.
Need to post a few photographs of recent developments.

Getting closer to the end of wiring.......invested in a Power Probe III. Which I have to say is one of the best tools I've bought for a while...great for testing each circuit and powering things up one circuit at a time....

Small break from wiring to fix a few broken studs from the heater flap boxes.....one on LHS and two on RHS....drilled out inserted rivnut then a length of threaded stud helped with lashings of loctite. Another silly and fiddly little job out of the way.
